Tomorrow, we’ll finally be holding our “Gebetshaus Kreativ” event again at the Gebetshaus in Munich. Three times a year on a Saturday evening, we offer the opportunity to experience God in a sensory and creative way over the course of three hours.
Tomorrow’s topic will be “When in War, Create.” As part of my introduction, I’d like to discuss my painting “The igneted Typewriter.” The client had told me a little about his recent painful past. So the connection to these events seems very obvious, but the state he described may have much more far-reaching and deeper causes. However, I only saw the ice in my own interpretation; it did not come from his stories.
My impressions to the picture
This is what I wrote to the client:
„Hello […],
When I was praying for you, I saw a large, icy expanse. It was like a frosted, snow-covered, frozen window. You couldn't see what was hidden behind it. You've told me a bit about your life and the recent terrible events.It's as if you're stuck—paralyzed and frozen. It might be about the effects of these things, but it might also go back much further in your life.
But then I saw an old typewriter—really one like the ones from way back when, not even an electric one. You started sitting down at that typewriter and writing on it. At first, you were a little hesitant and slow. But the longer you wrote, the more the words just flowed. You let your creativity run wild, and wonderful stories emerged. It truly ignited you and reawakened the passion within you! That led to the ice melting away, and you were freed from your paralysis; joy and a joy for life returned to your life.
I believe that Jesus really wants to give you stories. The scene in the upper part of the picture is purely symbolic. But I saw the palm trees, the poplars, and the futuristic city in my mind's eye!Of course, the content could be something completely different.
I hope that you can rediscover your creativity anew, that writing (and perhaps other creative and artistic gifts as well) will set you free, and that God will powerfully use your creativity to serve and inspire you and others!
